Antique Belgium Notre Dame de Montaigu icon featuring on the front side: Notre Dame de Montaigu, also known as Our Lady Under the Tree. At Her feet is a shepherd with his flock who found a small statue of the Madonna at the base of a tree. He tried to remove it but could not leave and had to be rescued. Only when the statue was replaced in the oak tree could he be released. The location became a site of pilgrimage & many miracles are associated with it. In Her honor, the archduke built the Basilica of Our Lady of Scherpenheuvel, considered the most popular shrine in Belgium. Featuring on the reverse side The Sacred Heart of Jesus, The Immaculate Heart of Mary, the Crown, and lillies form an oval frame around it. Presented on a rosary inspired hand crafted solid bronze chain with genuine rondelle Morganite beads, and solid bronze fleur de lis toggle clasp.
